Working at Chernobyl in 1995 was an amazing experience. I was the only westerner living in the new town of Slavutych that was built to replace the abandoned city of Pripyat. In addition, I was the only westerner working full time at the power station. This gave me an insight into the running of the both places that was as thrilling as it was unique. More »

The most read article on this weekend’s The Times Online was Chernobyl offers a holiday in hell. Before we go on, I ought to say I spent six months working at Chernobyl in 1995. I’ve visited many times since. I met my wife there. My child sort of qualifies as being a child of Chernobyl.  More »
